||The copywriter position will play an instrumental role in developing a creative voice for the FLOR brand, and ensuring that the brand delivers the best creative copy across all customer touch points. The copywriter will support all areas of the business, including catalog and direct mail materials, website and emails, the store environment, and direct marketing campaigns. This position will work closely with the marketing team as well as designers and merchants to come up with the best creative solutions to any challenge.
We’re looking for someone who can tell a story using very few words. You should possess a vast vocabulary and have expertise in grammar, syntax, proofreading, and the technical aspects of writing. Ideally, you truly understand (and love) the FLOR brand and hold a unique ability to use words to communicate the FLOR brand image to existing and potential customers in a way that is engaging, friendly, genuine, sophisticated, witty, warm and personal. You’ll need to develop on-brand messaging that will be used in everything from direct mail, web/digital, in-store to product descriptions, brand information, training manuals, seasonal campaigns, event collateral, advertisements, and executive bios, etc.
FLOR is a fast-paced, collaborative environment so you need to be a self-starter who’s extremely organized and a team player.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; preferably in English, Communications, Marketing or related area of expertise.
Partner with internal creative and marketing teams to develop campaign themes based on merchant selection of products
Write headlines and 2-3 copy for emails and catalog/direct mailers
Create exciting new ways to introduce seasonal products
Develop innovative editorial copy to tell the stories of each product and generate new interest in the FLOR brand
Write witty homepage messages that inform the customer of the key benefits of a product, trend idea or category
Create innovative weekly email concepts that package our products in an entertaining, informative way
Partner with our Web Team on creative concepts and production deliveries
Generate creative ways of introducing new content packages to the customer to keep her interested, entertained and clicking through the web site
Maintain clean, clever, strong overall messaging throughout the web site
Update customer service messaging and re-platforming projects
Deliver strong, interesting subject lines that intrigue the customer
Write blow-ins, postcards, invitations, ads and general direct mail support
Write clever store signage, banners, marquees and point-of-purchase messages
Partner with our Visual team to make sure we align on messaging and creative concepts in the stores
Proofread all copy according to the highest grammatical standards
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Marketing or equivalent experience
5-10 years of copywriting experience with an outstanding portfolio dedicated to concise communication and inspiring creative approaches
Excellent writing skills with a strong command of the English language, including creativity, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
Must be an "idea person" and true problem solver with the ability to lead
Keen eye for good design
Must understand the retail environment and have the ability to provide creative solutions from copy to design
Highly organized team player with an ability to work effectively under deadlines and manager multiple priorities and projects at once
Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.
Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to provide solutions to problems.
Proficient in Word (Mac), Excel (Mac), internet researching and can easily adapt to content management systems
Travel is estimated at 5%
